PLAY ME I’M YOURS | TOCA’M SÓC TEU
Barcelona 2010
Barcelona – 2010. Beatrice Zagato is among the 20 artists selected to take part in the famous street art installation PLAY ME I’M YOURS | TOCA’M SÓC TEU, conceived by the artist Luke Jerraam, which is currently touring the world and this time is taking place in the city of Barcelona. Zagato creates this four-handed work with artist Athenea Borgel Guareschi, who is also Italian.
Together they transform a piano into a work of art that will then be placed in the squares and public places of Barcelona.
The aim of the performance is to eliminate social barriers and bring art and music among people and into the streets, demonstrating that art belongs to everyone.
The two artists want to leave an artwork that speaks of Italy. “We have placed an infinite number of sheets of paper writing passages of Italian songs with the most beautiful messages. They are letters addressed to the person who will open the piano to play it, with the idea that those messages of beauty will spread everywhere through the notes”. “While I was painting the piano,- Zagato says – the Aristocats Disney cartoon came to my mind, I painted it feeling the freedom of those nocturnal playing of Romeo and his band! I hope this piano speaks of freedom and joy”.
